Monroe County Community College's Applied Science and Technology Division, in partnership with the Southeast Michigan Community Alliance Michigan Works!, is offering an Apprenticeship Readiness Program for those who are interested in entering skilled trades.

This Apprenticeship Readiness program will help you develop the skills, confidence and professional connections needed to be successful. You will also have the opportunity to meet representatives from different trades to explore apprenticeship opportunities.

There is no cost to participants.

GAIN ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR ENTERING SKILLED TRADES

Who should attend?
The program is open to individuals in the community who are seeking ways to enter skilled trades and who meet the eligibility requirements.

Program Schedule
The Apprenticeship Readiness Program is a two-weekend program and meets in-person on two Fridays and Saturdays,
8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. There will be four cohorts: 1) Trade Math, 2) Welding Basics, 3) Millwright Basics and 4) Construction 

Program Eligibility and Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Students entering the program must attend all four of the sessions during the scheduled time to be eligible for the certificate, credits and tool set.

Upon Completion
Upon successful completion of the program based on requirements, students will gain insights into various career
pathways by meeting representatives of different trades and explore apprenticeship opportunities. Students will also:

  • Receive a Certificate of Completion from Monroe County Community College
  • Receive a graduation gift: a tool set (must meet all attendance requirements for the sessions)
  • Qualify for 2 college credits in the Technology area (eligible candidates only)
  • Be provided with vouchers for OSHA 10 certificate prep (for those who are interested)
